Support the Great Divide Trail Association!
The Great Divide Trail (GDT) is more than just a trail; it’s a vital corridor through the breathtaking wilderness of the Canadian Rockies—a true Canadian jewel. Spanning over 1,100 kilometers along the continental divide between Alberta and British Columbia, the GDT invites adventurers to spend days, nights, or months navigating rugged terrain and stunning landscapes. This remarkable trail offers a challenging yet rewarding experience, immersing hikers in the splendor of nature.
At the Great Divide Trail Association, we are deeply committed to maintaining, protecting, and promoting this incredible trail. Your support helps us continue to advocate for the protection of these environments, ensuring that future generations can enjoy the trail and the health benefits that come with outdoor recreation in this scenic wilderness.
Access to the GDT means more than just a hiking experience; it provides an opportunity for individuals to reconnect with nature, promoting mental and physical well-being. Studies show that spending time outdoors can enhance mood, reduce stress, and improve overall health. By engaging with the GDT, hikers not only experience the beauty of the wilderness but also contribute to vital conservation efforts.
Here’s how your donations make a tangible impact to help protect and maintain our trails:
$20 donation equips one trail volunteer for a maintenance trip with personal protection equipment.
$150 donation provides a new tool, such as a rogue hoe or pole saw, to assist in trail work.
$250 donation supports a crew for a day, allowing for several kilometers of trail clearing and maintenance.
$1,000 donation contributes to major trail infrastructure improvements and repairs, such as small footbridges, backcountry campgrounds, or green thrones.
$5,000 donation supports comprehensive maintenance initiatives in remote and challenging areas, where access is limited and requires specialized equipment and planning. This amount also represents the average yearly volunteer cost for basic trail maintenance—such as minor deadfall removal and corridor clearing—along 100 km of the Great Divide Trail.
Every donation helps us safeguard the Great Divide Trail and create unforgettable wilderness experiences for adventurers. Together, we can ensure that the beauty and spirit of the GDT endure for generations to come while also nurturing the ecosystems that make it so special.
Thank you for your support! ❤️

Make-A-Wish® is the world’s leading wish-granting organization, serving children with critical illnesses in every community across Canada by granting their most heartfelt wish.
Make-A-Wish Canada’s goal is to bring every eligible child’s wish to life. In 2024, we granted over 2,100 life changing wishes across the country.
A wish is a personalized journey that inspires a child and engages their family and community to bring hope and joy to the child with the illness.
In fact, there are extensive research studies that show a wish is a wonderful, moving, life-altering experience with real benefits that can last a lifetime:
9 out of 10 wish kids reported that the wish experience relieved them from traumatic stress.
9 out of 10 medical providers say a wish increased compliance with treatment.
8 out of 10 kids reported that their wish gave them the strength to fight their critical illness.
9 out of 10 medical providers observed that the wish experience has a positive impact on a child’s overall quality of life.
Every year, close to 6,000 more children in Canada are diagnosed with a critical illness – that’s more potential wish kids every year.
Right now, we have over 184 eligible kids waiting for wishes in Southern Alberta, with more being referred every day. Support from people like you make it possible for us to continue granting life-changing wishes for children facing critical illnesses.

We all need energy. It is as simple — and complex — as that.
Every one of us is fueled by trillions of microscopic powerhouses called
mitochondria
. These tiny, mighty, energy-producing structures generate the energy we need to survive. Our major organs use the most energy so when mitochondria fail, we struggle to think, breath, move and live. We are all at risk of inheriting or developing mitochondrial disease. It can affect anyone at any age. There is no cure.
There is, however, hope! MitoCanada is dedicated to ensuring that all lives are powered by healthy mitochondria. We are the only Canadian charity dedicated to mitochondrial support, education, awareness and research.
