Cancer Research Society

Katie Mills

The Cancer Research Society is a national not-for-profit organization whose sole mission is to fund research on all types of cancer to help prevent, detect, and treat this disease. Cancer remains the leading cause of death in Canada affecting 2 in 5 Canadians and, despite progress made through research for many types of cancer, one in four cancer patients will not survive their diagnosis. One thing is clear: Advances through prevention, detection and treatments begin with research. Overall, research has led to remarkable progress. Survival rates for some cancers now exceed 70%, 80% and even 90%. Since 1945, the Cancer Research Society has invested $388 millions in research across Canada. In 2023 alone, 124 research projects were funded to support of cancer research and better care.
