Win $2,000 in fitness gear or programming for your school!
There are so many benefits to getting kids running early. As well as physical and mental benefits, with the Calgary Marathon’s Earn, Burn & Learn contest, you could win money for your school! Continue reading to find out more and learn how to get involved.
Running improves physical well-being, reduces stress, helps build a stronger immune system, and prevents muscle and bone loss. It builds self-confidence and is something you can do alone or as a family unit and is essential for many sports. Perhaps the most important for us, running promotes a healthy, active lifestyle. The chance to win some money for our school is just icing on the cake!

Your school has a chance to win $2,000 (and a $300 gift card package for your captain)! To take part, register for any distance in the virtual Scotiabank Calgary Marathon and select “YES” to participate in the Earn Burn and Learn School Contest then select your school from the drop down menu, which has participating schools listed in alphabetical order.
If you would like to participate and your school is not already listed in the drop down please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Who – Kindergarten to Grade 12 schools in Calgary or surrounding area may enter the contest.
When and Where – Please view the updated information regarding the Scotiabank Calgary Marathon Virtual race, which can be completed anytime and anywhere from May 31-September 27.
What – The school that accumulates the most points through kilometres registered by runners and walkers, and volunteer hours in 3 separate categories will be awarded $2,000. If your school accumulates the most points, the school captain will also receive a $300 gift card to the Running Room. Any race day distance counts towards total kilometres: 1.2KM Kids Marathon 5KM 10KM 21.1KM 42.2KM or 50KM. 1KM = 1 point.
Why – Promotes running literacy and health and wellness through physical activity and community involvement.
How – Anyone connected with the school may participate: parents, students, teachers, family and friends. Just ask them to select “yes” during their race or volunteer registration for the question: “Are you participating in the Earn Burn & Learn School Contest?” They will need to select your school name from the list, and that’s it!
All runners, walkers, and volunteers will receive a t-shirt and a medal. Youth sizes only available in the Scotiabank Kids Marathon and GoodLife Fitness 5KM walk and run.
Please note: due to the change to a virtual event, there are no longer volunteering opportunities to get points and therefore volunteer hours will not be a part of the 2020 Earn, Burn, and Learn contest. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact email@example.com
