Volunteer Information

All volunteers will need to have a Run Calgary Volunteer Profile, in order to sign up for volunteer opportunities. This only needs to be done once, so create your profile now to save time when volunteer registration opens up!

Volunteers are essential to the success of any large event and we can't wait to work with YOU in 2024. We are counting on our dedicated race crew of seasoned and new volunteers, groups and clubs, athletes who are able to volunteer on race weekend, as well as family and friends of registered participants to join us in making the 60th Anniversary of the Servus Calgary Marathon a smashing success.

Get Involved

There are a variety of volunteer roles available to choose from, whether you want to be supporting athletes out on the race course or experiencing the energy of race weekend down at the Stampede Grounds.

Volunteering for the Servus Calgary Marathon can be a great team-building exercise, a fun family bonding experience, a way to get school or work credit for volunteer hours, and an opportunity to meet new people.

All volunteers will receive a Volunteer Hours Certificate. If you have a specific form to record your volunteer hours, be sure to bring it to your volunteer shift for your Volunteer Lead to sign.

Committee / Board Opportunities

The Calgary Marathon Society (CMS) is made up of Run Calgary staff, members of the Volunteer Board of Directors, and Calgary Marathon Volunteer Race Committee members.

The Volunteer Board of Directors meet 6-10 times a year and is focused on governance, developing long term strategy, and creating the future vision of the organization. Sub-committees meet monthly, quarterly, or as needed.

To apply to sit on the Board of Directors: Please keep an eye out for future opportunities here.

The Calgary Marathon Volunteer Race Committee is made up of Leads, Course Captains, and technical specialists, and is focused on the operations and execution of Race Week. All positions require some pre-planning, however it is varied and so is the level of commitment.

To apply to be part of the Calgary Marathon Volunteer Race Committee: Please email with your C.V. (professional and running), some thoughts on why you would like to join the committee, what skills you bring, and where you would like to contribute.

Groups and Team Volunteering

We are seeking groups who want to volunteer together! If you are part of a run club, team, company, or organization, please email to discuss how we can get your group involved. Your group may be eligible for an honorarium.
